Co-Founder Solomon Thomas, Defensive Lineman of the Las Vegas Raiders, is pledging $8,000 per sack this season to support his nonprofit The Defensive Line. The Defensive Line believes it is a moral duty to work towards ending youth suicide.
$8,000 helps support suicide prevention workshops for educators and coaches in schools. These workshops provide:
- Essential information about the current suicide crisis, language, risk factors, and warning signs.
- How educators and coaches can create a supportive mentally healthy environment in their classroom or on their team.
- A step-by-step crisis response action plan for every adult in preparation of mental health crises.
The Defensive Line believes everyone can play an active role in stopping suicide. These workshops show educators and teachers exactly how they can.
Every $8,000 will also help The Defensive Line bring powerful speakers to schools, panels, and other public engagements to share their stories. Sharing stories of the human experience is a core tenant of how The Defensive Line believes people connect. It’s essential to show others that it’s ok to not be ok and that it’s ok to talk about the hard parts of life in order to move through them towards a mentally healthy life.
All money committed from you and Solomon will go towards the overall mission of The Defensive Line: ending the epidemic of youth suicide, especially for young people of color, by transforming the way we communicate and connect about mental health.
